Latest Updates from Our Project:

Node shields arrived, IP67 case and Gateway update!
almost 7 years ago – Tue, Jun 04, 2019 at 11:36:35 AM

Hi all,

Another quick update for you...

IoT LoRa Node Shields

As we mentioned in the last update, the Node Shields for Arduino were nearly finished and on the way. We received these today as you can see below...

For any orders that only included Arduino Node pHATs we have shipped those out today (along with some accessories). So keep an eye on your postman if you backed for just an Arduino Node!

Based on feedback received from our team and the beta testers, we added foam to the underside of the board to protect the delicate metal pins from being bent in transit. This seems to have had a massive benefit and hopefully should mean that you will receive yours with the pins looking nice and straight! Let us know if you don't.

IP67 Case

Following on from the slightly disappointing news on the IP67 cases, we now have some good news - we have placed the order for the IP67 cases from the new supplier. We will have to wait about a week to get the first 5 samples sent to us to verify. Once that is completed and checked, we will then receive the remaining 95 units approximately 2 to 3 weeks later. Hopefully it can be quicker than this, but since it is a new supplier we are not entirely sure. In any case, if any order includes the IP67 case, we will ship all other items out before shipping the case as we want to make sure that there is no delay to other items because of this.

We will keep you posted on progress with these. We are shipping them over by air, so that the delivery doesn't take too long.

Gateways

We are on track with these still. We are hoping to finish the Gateway boards by the tail end of this week, ready to ship to us from China early next week. As soon as they arrive with us we will begin shipping out immediately.

Other items

IP67 HAT Holder board - we are nearly finished testing and verifying these. Should have them ready to go to production in the next week or so.

I2C GPS - we are nearly finished testing and verifying these. Should have them ready to go to production in the next week or so.

Plastic cases for nodes and gateways - these are likely to take the longest to arrive, as the design is not complete by our design partner yet. We will ship these after all the other rewards to ensure there are no delays. We don't have a good timeline on these yet but will keep you posted.

Thanks for your patience as we ship out! We know you are eager to receive all of the items and we are working hard to get them out to you as soon as we can.

Thanks,

The Pi Supply Team

IP67 Case and Node Shields
almost 7 years ago – Thu, May 30, 2019 at 01:13:10 AM

Hi all,

Another fairly quick update for you on schedules.

IP67 Case

Our original source of these cases, where we had placed a 100 unit order, has unfortunately let us down and is currently unsure whether they will be able to supply us with stock required to fulfil the Kickstarter orders for these! However, they were just a reseller of the cases themselves. We have managed to locate a couple of suppliers and manufacturers that can supply the exact same / an uncannily similar case for a very similar price.

We have made good progress on the sourcing of these, and hope to have the order placed with the new supplier within a week from now. We should be on track to ship out any of these cases still in line with previous timelines, but we just wanted to keep you in the loop with the issue that had arisen as it has put us back a bit time wise.

As we are speaking to a number of suppliers of these, it should hopefully mean that our long-term ability to supply these cases in good quantities is more reliable too. So in a way it is better we had this issue now rather than further down the line.

Node Shields

The first batch of the IoT LoRa Node Shields for Arduino were finished yesterday and have today been shipped out to us. So we expect to receive them sometime next week and will begin shipping those out to backers immediately.

Other bits

The Gateways, I2C GPS, IP67 case HAT holder and other bits and pieces that we have on Kickstarter / BackerKit orders are still on target based on the previous updates with timelines for these. Any changes to this and we will let you know via an update.

Photos / code / projects etc

We have been delighted to see on our Twitter feed a lot of people sharing pictures of them receiving their Kickstarter packages etc, as well as projects they are using them in and code they have written etc.

This is absolutely fantastic and we love seeing the products being used and shared in this way...and the more the better.

So when you get yours, if you can join in and share your pictures / code / projects with us on Twitter or other social channels we would be absolutely delighted!!

Shipping to commence by Monday
almost 7 years ago – Wed, May 15, 2019 at 11:10:53 PM

Hi backers,

Just a quick one to let you know that we are expecting to receive the first drop of IoT micro:bit LoRa Nodes and IoT LoRa Node pHATs tomorrow.

As mentioned in the previous update, we already have the orders loaded into the system. We will give the boards one final test and will then begin shipping. We expect shipping to commence on Friday or Monday.

As we start to ship out, we will mark any orders as shipped in BackerKit so you are notified that they are on their way...so keep an eye on your emails. But remember, this initial shipment will be only for orders that just include either Node pHATs or micro:bit Nodes.

Rest of production

We are still on track with our schedule mentioned in a previous update. The Arduino Nodes have been approved and the first batch are being manufactured as we speak. The Gateway HATs and second drop of nodes are still on track to be delivered to us towards the end of the month and we will ship out as soon as we get them.

Thanks for your continued patience...we can't wait to get these out to you all and see what you make!

All the best,

The Pi Supply Team

Surveys locked down and more shipping updates
almost 7 years ago – Wed, May 08, 2019 at 11:34:42 AM

Hi there,

Just a quick update today to remind you that the surveys are now locked down and we have imported the shipments into Linnworks (our shipping / inventory management software) today - so we are all prepped and ready to ship once product starts to arrive with us.

And on that note, and further to our previous update with shipping timelines, we have been notified by our manufacturer that they will finish the first lot of micro:bit and Raspberry Pi nodes by the end of this week and will ship them out to us.

We also have the 50 beta units of the Arduino nodes arriving tomorrow/Friday. We will test these immediately and then we will give our manufacturer the go ahead to finish the next batch - which will take about a week.

We are still also on track to finish the rest of the Nodes and Gateways by the end of the month as mentioned in the previous update -  https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/pisupply/iot-lora-boards-your-gateway-to-the-internet-of-th/posts/2473094

Any further developments and we will let you know!

Thanks,

Aaron and the Pi Supply team
